Love Birds
One of my love birds died, what to do with the other one?
I’ve had 2 love birds for about 6 or 7 years and a couple days ago, one of them died. I’m not sure if it’s the male or the female because they both look pretty much the same. I’m scarred that the one left is lonely and am not sure what to do now.
I can’t let it go free it’s not gonna survive!
Whatever you do, do not let him go free. He will die within a day or two. His colors make him stand out in the wild and he has no wild survival instinct. That would be extremely cruel.
Another Lovebird friend would work. Just make sure you get the new Lovebird vet checked before taking him home and quaratine the new Lovebird for 2-3 weeks to make sure he is healthy and won’t infect your existing bird.
If you really can’t care for your existing Lovebird anymore you can always talk to a local parrot club and see if anyone wants to adopt him from you. If not, you can always find parrot rescue organizations listed on Petfinder.com. If none in your area can help you or there are none in your area, call the closest rescue listed on the website and ask for the name and number of one that can help you.
